Greetings fellow Rope Droppers,

Breaking news overnight: Disney is delaying the maiden voyage for the Disney Adventure by three months. That’s the new megaship that will homeport in Singapore. We haven’t seen a ship delay since the Wish’s pandemic-era launch. More on all that below.

We started with 507 stories and bring you this week’s 4-minute read.

To passholder, or not to passholder… That is the question. If you’re not currently a passholder, right now could be good time to make the decision (either way!) if you’re on the fence.

Why? Two reasons. First, a promotion for new passholders that started this summer now has an end date, and it’s soon: the end of this month.

What’s the deal? The annual pass promotion gives new passholders a Disney eGift Card with their purchase, a rare deal. You can read the full details here, but if you’re not a Florida resident or a DVC member, the only pass option for you is the $1,549 Incredi-Pass, which would earn you a $100 gift card.

What’s the other reason? For the past two years, annual pass price changes have dropped in October - October 23, 2024 and October 11, 2023 to be exact. Between this gift card promotion’s end date, and the past two years of history, now may be the best time of all to make a decision.

Two other really important things RDR thinks you should know:

  1. When you buy a new annual pass, you have a year to actually activate it

  2. Your year of being a passholder doesn’t start until you activate it (the first time you actually tap into a park)

What’s that mean for me? Well, if you’re planning to get a pass sometime soon, we think cash in on that gift card offer now and avoid a price increase.

Salagadoola mechicka boola. (Or, I think that’s how it’s spelled?) Some changes are coming to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at the Magic Kingdom.

We love more characters, and it sounds like Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother herself will soon be stopping into the makeover hotspot.

Now the magic words…Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, we have some news for you ✨💙 Cinderella's Fairy Godmother will soon be joining Bibbidi Bobbidi Bo... See more

In addition, Disney says it will be offering “new, simplified package options” come early October.  We definitely like the sound of simpler, especially when the current lineup of package options lists seven, from $19.95 to $450.

Fall is in full swing, and just when you thought there couldn’t be more seasonal treats to scope out, there are!

WDWNT tried out two new offerings from Karamell-Küche in Epcot’s Germany pavilion - a pumpkin spice cupcake, and a pumpkin butter bar. Oh… did we mention both also feature caramel? Of course they do.

And if you still miss the days when Epcot Food & Wine featured seminars, this event might be your one little spark: the Food & Wine Classic at the Swan and Dolphin. Unlike the Epcot version, this one only happens on one weekend, November 14-15.

They announced their seminars this week, which include events with Chef Michael Mina, Chef Todd English. We wish the actual Epcot Food & Wine festival would bring these back, as well as one of our favorite special events that’s still missing post pandemic: Party for the Senses.

As we mentioned at the top, Disney’s largest cruise ship to date is taking longer than expected to finish. Overnight, the Disney Adventure’s maiden voyage was pushed back from December 15 to March 10.

Guests who were booked on these two-dozen initial cruises that are now canceled are being offered a hefty 50% discount on a future sailing.

The ship has a wild backstory. Originally the Global Dream, Disney purchased the unfinished ship in 2022 after the previous owners filed for bankruptcy. The keel was laid in September 2018, meaning work on this ship has been underway for seven years now.

It’s a first in many ways for DCL: the largest ship in the fleet, the first homeported in Asia. The Adventure’s sailings also have no planned ports

Our take: It’s not uncommon for maiden voyages to be delayed, not just on Disney. We saw about a month delay with the Wish’s a few years ago. Just like any big new project, the more unknowns the more the timeline can be in flux. But it’s good there are some discounts being offered to those who had the now-canceled sailings booked.

  • Back to one: Blizzard Beach closed this week for what’s most likely the regular, seasonal refurbishment, meaning Typhoon Lagoon is your de facto pick if you want to visit a Disney water park right now. (Blog Mickey)

  • Do you remember? Earth, Wind & Fire day is, you guessed it, September 21. And per tradition, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will play September, and only September on that day to celebrate. (WKMG)

  • Lodge progress: Construction on Lakeshore Lodge at Fort Wilderness is progressing along, as we can see in a fresh set of photos. (Blog Mickey)

  • World Drive Construction: Disney is looking to continue to make changes to traffic flow around World Drive, with a new permit looking to address the Grand Floridian entrance. (WDWNT)

Ending on a little something fun as we always do… Parkeology spotted the Dolphin’s rooftop fountains spraying yet again. These sometimes forgotten features don’t always run (rarely, you could say), so some folks noted how they were nice to see again! Keep an eye out on your next visit and see if they’re still going.
